On January 1, 2025, the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement officially came into force. Over 90% of products will eventually achieve zero tariffs. This has enabled agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits exported from China to the Maldives to enjoy tariff preferences, significantly reducing business costs and increasing profit margins. This development has created excellent opportunities for expanding agricultural trade into new markets.
Many fruit and vegetable companies have increased their investment in the Maldives market, with order volumes rising notably. At the same time, alongside the deepening implementation of RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership), Myanmar implemented tariff reduction policies on certain goods on May 14, 2025. Due to price advantages, Myanmar's agricultural products, mineral products, and other goods have further stimulated the growth of China-Myanmar trade, bringing new opportunities for agricultural product trade.
